Manorama adds sleeping pills in Sunita’s milk to get some solution for an evil eye without thinking about its effect on the fetus. She does some rituals on Sunita to nullify the effect of an evil eye on her and on unborn baby. Manorama does not allow her to go out of the house… saying she will get affected by an evil eye and the baby will suffer. Sunita delivers a baby boy named Vishal but his grandmother insists on calling him “Kalu” so that he will not get affected by any evil eye. Sunita has no option but to follow whatever her mother in laws says. Sunita tries to raise her voice against Manorama’s thinking but Kalu has grown up with Manorama’s beliefs. Even after years; when Kalu is 18 years old, she keeps on doing a ritual in which she burns red chilies to nullify the effect of an evil eye.
